During the 1950s when the post war construction expansion was taking place, the bidding process was wild and unreliable particularly in the Mechanical Industry. Mechanical Contractors began discussing forming a Bid Depository, in doing so the Mechanical Contractors Association and the Bid Depository were born.
During the early to mid 1980s a crisis was developing in the world of workers' compensation insurance. The MCA membership created the MCA of NM Workers' Compensation Group Fund. This allowed the MCA members to pool together their funds in order to cover workers' compensation losses.

Steve was hired with the MCA of NM Association in 2000. Steve originally owned his own plumbing business until 1995 when he was appointed to the Construction Industries Division (CID) as the Mechanical Bureau Chief. While working at CID Steve successfully enforced plumbing & mechanical codes, worked with code adoption, and permitted and inspected all public owned buildings. Steve has been appointed by Governor Richardson as a Commissioner on the Construction Industry Commission.
Ronda worked for Speaker of the House Raymond Sanchez and House Majority Leader Michael Olguin as an assistant to the House Analysis. During her work at the Legislature she was hired by the MCA of NM in 1996.
Julie has recently started with the Association Office she overlooks the daily functions of the Bid Depository.
